This project will design and construct interim safety improvements and study additional operational and safety enhancements along Fitzhugh Road. The existing road consists of one lane in each direction, narrow lanes, no shoulders or turn lanes, limited visibility, and poor pavement conditions.

In 2024, the County completed an initial safety analysis to identify safety improvements that could be implemented within the existing right of way (ROW). Since then, the County has continued to study the corridor, coordinate with property owners, and hold two public meetings to gather additional input.
COST: $5M
RIGHT OF WAY
No additional ROW will be needed for the interim safety improvements. As the corridor study progresses, ROW needs will be evaluated, and the County will coordinate with property owners.
