Hays County is planning improvements to enhance safety, improve mobility, and increase traffic capacity along Windy Hill Road. The roadway currently has one lane in each direction with no shoulders or turn lanes.

Preliminary design and public engagement were completed in 2020. The County is now advancing the project through detailed design, right- of- way (ROW) acquisition, and utility coordination. Construction is not currently funded.
